Summer is finally here and it might be time for you to think about booking a family holiday. It might even be your first one! But where to go?!

One thing’s for sure, those couple-friendly hotels you used to go to are out. But the good news is that there are a whole host of chic, toddler and baby-friendly hotels and self-catering places that we think you’ll love.

So where should you look? Some of our favourite places to browse for holidays that your little one will love as much as you are: • Baby-friendly Boltholes • Kid & Coe • i-escape with kids • Tots To Travel

What should you be thinking about?
Does the accommodation have a cot, highchair and stair gates?
Are there barriers around swimming pools for safety, in villas or apartments…. or lifeguards at hotel swimming pools?
Are there toys already there, to save you taking your own?
How long a transfer is the accommodation from the airport, if you’re flying?
If you’re booking a transfer, will they have the right car seat for your baby?

If you have a toddler, you might want a second bedroom so that your little one can get off to sleep in the evening and you can enjoy the evening together in another room. What about these places….

White Surf Villa, Martinhal, Portugal We love that there is a comprehensive “kit” for families with under-fives (including toys, bath toys plus practical kit like black out blinds), the pool has an electric hard cover and there is plenty of shade for the kids. And it’s just a few moments from the beach…

The Diputació Residence, Barcelona If a city break is more your cup of tea, we love the look of this apartment in the centre of Barcelona. It has bunk beds and a low cabin bed, with a cot available on request. Look how many toys and books the apartment has! Toddler heaven.

Fallow Deer, Hampshire, UK Perfect for new parents, this cottage in Hampshire has a fridge that can be pre-stocked with online shopping groceries so parents’ barely need to lift a finger. For romantic nights out a babysitter can be arranged whilst mums in need of a pamper can make use of the visiting beautician who can pop into the cottage for a spruce up on request!
